Bristol’s Conservatory Painting Specialists

UPVC Conservatory Frameworks

White UPVC conservatories installed between 1990 and 2010 are the most common type across Bristol’s family housing stock. Over time, the profiles yellow and develop surface staining.

We clean and degrease all UPVC profiles, lightly abrade the surface, mask all glazing, and apply a UPVC adhesion primer before the finish coats. Two coats are sprayed for a factory-smooth result.

Aluminium Conservatory Frames

Older conservatories, particularly lean-to structures added to Clifton and Redland properties in the 1970s and 1980s, are often aluminium-framed. We use an aluminium-compatible etch primer before applying the topcoat.

Timber Conservatory Frames

Victorian and Edwardian lean-to conservatories on Bristol’s period properties are often timber-framed. The timber needs to be assessed for condition, any rot addressed, and an exterior wood primer applied before the finish coats.

Dwarf Walls and Brickwork

Most conservatories sit on a dwarf wall. Where this is painted or rendered, it often looks tired at the same time as the framework. We include the dwarf wall in the scope wherever the client wants a complete result. For rendered dwarf walls, see our render painting page.

Colour Options

The visual impact of a conservatory colour change is immediate. A white UPVC structure from the late 1990s can be entirely transformed to anthracite grey or black to match contemporary window frames.

Our Conservatory Painting Process

1. Structure Assessment

We assess the framework material, condition, and glazing configuration before quoting.

2. Cleaning and Degreasing

All profiles are cleaned of grease, surface contamination, and biological deposits.

3. Surface Preparation

UPVC profiles are lightly abraded. Aluminium receives an etch primer. Timber is inspected for soft or deteriorated sections.

4. Masking

All glazing is masked carefully. The quality of the masking directly affects the quality of the finish lines.

5. Primer Application

UPVC adhesion primer, aluminium etch primer, or exterior wood primer is applied as appropriate.

6. Finish Coats

Two coats are applied by spray. Drying time between coats is observed.

7. Final Check

All lines are inspected before masking is removed. Touch-ups are completed before we leave.

Conservatory Painting Costs in Bristol

Typical range: £350 to £1,100 depending on size and material.

Size and Frame Material

A small lean-to UPVC conservatory runs £350–£550. A standard 3m × 4m UPVC conservatory runs £450–£750. Large Victorian-style or orangery-style extensions run £700–£1,100.

Aluminium Premium

Aluminium conservatory frames require etch primer, adding £100–£200 to the cost.

Dwarf Wall Scope

Whether the dwarf wall is included in scope affects the overall price. Brick dwarf walls that have been painted previously can be recoated in a complementary masonry colour.

If combining conservatory painting with window frames or fascias, the overall cost rises but the cost per item falls. Call 0117 463 3348 for a precise quote.
