Bristol’s Kitchen Cabinet Painting Specialists

Why Preparation Is Everything

Cabinet painting fails for one reason: the preparation was skipped or done incorrectly. Factory lacquer and stained finishes on quality kitchens are bonded firmly under controlled conditions. A new top coat applied directly over them will not adhere.

A correctly painted cabinet on a kitchen of this quality will hold for five to eight years. A rushed job chips within months.

Spray-Applied Finish

For clients who can have cabinet doors and drawer fronts removed, we offer a spray-applied finish applied off-site in our workshop. This produces the smoothest result, comparable to the original factory finish.

Brush-and-Roller On-Site Finish

For clients who cannot or do not wish to remove cabinet doors, we apply a brush-and-roller finish on site. Using the right tools and correct application technique, an on-site finish closely matches the original factory appearance.

Two-Colour Schemes

A contrasting island or different colours on upper and lower cabinets is a popular brief across Bristol’s premium suburbs. Two-colour schemes require careful masking and sequencing.

Painting Versus Replacement

A new kitchen in Bristol’s premium bracket typically costs £25,000–£80,000+. A correctly executed repaint costs £1,200–£4,500. Repainting makes sense when the structure is sound and the colour is the only issue.

Our Kitchen Cabinet Painting Process

1. Kitchen Assessment

We visit and examine the cabinet material, existing finish, and general condition. We confirm whether spray or on-site finish is appropriate.

2. Written Specification

We confirm the primer system, finish product, colour reference, and application method in writing. You approve this before we order materials.

3. Preparation

Doors and drawer fronts are removed or masked in place. All surfaces are thoroughly abraded, wiped clean, and allowed to dry. Specialist primer is applied.

4. Top Coats

Two to three finish coats applied at the correct interval. High-wear areas around handles and door edges receive additional attention.

5. Rehang and Inspection

Doors are rehung and adjusted for alignment. All surfaces inspected in good light. Touch-ups completed before we leave.

Kitchen Cabinet Painting Costs in Bristol

Cabinet repainting in Bristol typically runs between £1,200 and £4,500 depending on kitchen size, scope, and application method.

Number of Doors and Drawers

A standard 15–25 door kitchen at a single colour sits at £1,200–£2,500. Larger kitchens with island, larder, and utility cabinetry run £2,800–£4,500.

Application Method

Spray-applied finish costs more than brush-and-roller because of the workshop process and rehang logistics. The quality difference is visible on a large or particularly fine kitchen.

Two-Colour Schemes

A contrasting island or two-tone arrangement adds masking and sequencing time. Budget 15–20% more than a single-colour equivalent.
